Ariella Scalese is a Senior On-Air Meteorologist for the AccuWeather Network. Working at AccuWeather
is a win for Ariella personally and professionally. She is originally from the Philadelphia area and her
husband is from outside of Cleveland, so AccuWeather HQ is a perfect halfway point. Ariella’s career has
taken her from Texas to coastal Georgia, to North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and most recently Kentucky.
She is excited to apply all her diverse local weather experience on a much larger scale.
Ariella discovered at an early age she wanted to be a broadcast meteorologist. In 5th grade, Penn State
Meteorology professor Jon Nese spoke to her class. She was fascinated by his talk and knew exactly
what she wanted to do when she grew up. Every morning thereafter, she would read the weather
section of the local newspaper and lay her outfits out for the week, coordinating them with the 7-day
forecast.
Ariella graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in Earth and Environmental Science. She
continued her education through Mississippi State University to expand her knowledge in meteorology.
In her free time Ariella enjoys being outdoors. She loves to hike and spend time at the beach. Ariella is
very active, but also enjoys quiet time snuggled up with a good book. She is a self-proclaimed coffee
snob, a sucker for fall and Christmas decor, enjoys candles, and loves a good throw pillow. She is also an
animal lover, especially her own Lab/German Shepherd/Husky/Golden Retriever mix, Bogey.
